The internet can mean different things to different people. To some, it’s just a paid service that allows them to work and receive email. Some find its vast information highways to be great places for news, topic exploration, and online education. To others is a gateway to gaming, hobbies, connecting with people, and keeping up with the latest trends. However, some people use it as a tool for criminal activity and for profiting from harming others.
As we discussed last week, hackers are known to exploit weak networks. They also exploit the carefree nature of people with public Wi-Fi and their unprotected devices. But if we avoid getting on free Wi-Fi and have the proper measures against attacks, our information should be safe, right? “What exactly are these measures and why do I have to keep current Antivirus on my device?”

Proper Antivirus software should include malware scanning, real-time detection, cloud protections, and data encryption. Having these robust defenses makes a huge difference in protecting you from downloading a virus, mis-clicking an ad, or having anti-phishing tools for email. If updated and ran regularly, an Antivirus solution should have the reliability and provide the quality protection you need… Regardless of the Wi-Fi connection! Don’t fall victim to identity theft or let your guard down… ensure that your system is protected! Your presence on the internet will be much safer, and your likelihood of being compromised will drop drastically… Especially if you’re staying away from free Public Wi-Fi, to begin with.
“The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.” – Proverbs 22:3
